Questions & Answers

Below are some frequently asked questions - if you have questions about something that isn't addressed here, please don't hesitate to reach out and ask me directly!

Q: Where are you based and do you travel?

A: I am based out of Benicia, CA, but I love to travel to new locations! I have been to numerous locations in the Bay Area to shoot, and am happy to recommend a location based on what you are looking for, or if you have a location in mind, I am always happy to go somewhere new. Distances within a 25 mile radius of Benicia are free of charge, but if you want to go farther than 25 miles to a specific location, additional travel charges will apply depending on where and when.

Q: What should I wear?

A: Think color and texture! Clothing matters… A LOT. Neutrals are best. Shades of oatmeal, heather grays, whites and/or blush tones are ideal. Layering and texture can make an outfit. I love linens, nubby sweaters, soft fabrics, and accessories. Scarves, stylish headbands or a detailed blazer can make an outfit. If you’re unsure what to wear, call or email me - I am happy to help you. I have numerous Pinterest boards I can send you for inspiration or ideas, depending on your session. And, of course, you can always bring a variety of options that I am happy to help in narrowing down to the perfect outfit.

Q: When and how will we get our photos?

A: You will receive an online gallery link with all of your photos within a maximum of 2 weeks (usually this is less, but it depends on the season). You can download all the photos from the gallery, and they are yours to print, share, and save! The link expires in 60 days, but I can always re-send it if needed.

Q: What if my kids are sick? Can we reschedule?

A: Yes. Sick kids won’t radiate their “happy.” We want this experience to be a blast for them because it shows in the images. Ultimately, it’s your call: a runny nose generally isn’t going to get them down, but a fever likely will. You can reschedule anytime within 6 months of your original shoot date.

Q: What about bumps, bruises, acne, or mosquito bites?

A: Band-aids, bug bites, minor bumps or bruises are true badges of childhood—a memorable part of growing up that’s worthy of capture. Adults as well are prone to the occasional outbreak of acne and blemishes. If you would like to have these retouched during editing, please just let me know, and I will gladly do so! No need to reschedule because of a pimple or scrape.

Q: Should I bring snacks to my session?

A: Please feed everyone before coming to the shoot. Feel free to bring 'clean' snacks, such as small crackers or 'smarties' candy. When shooting families with littles, I tend to have a variety of bribery treats with me. But typically, it's much easier to work with a crew that isn't "hangry" or on the verge of being so, adults and kiddos alike.

Q: Where can I get my photos printed?

A: If you want professional grade prints, I recommend Millers Lab, MPix, or Nations Photo Lab. They are more expensive, but you get what you pay for here. Avoid printing at services such as Walgreens, CVS, Costco, or Walmart.
